Andreja Pejic is an internationally acclaimed model with numerous magazine credits and made her major film debut in the 2018 crime thriller The Girl in the Spider’s Web. A socialist-minded artist, she is an outspoken opponent of war, a defender of Julian Assange and Chelsea Manning, and a principled advocate for transgender rights.
Pejic was born in the former Yugoslavia in 1991 and migrated to Australia in 1999 in the aftermath of the US-NATO war against Serbia. She grew up in the working-class suburb of Broadmeadows in Melbourne, living with her mother, grandmother and brother.
Pejic has been a supporter of the Socialist Equality Party (SEP) since high school and is a long-time reader of the World Socialist Web Site.
In this video, Pejic makes an impassioned statement of opposition to Australia’s new anti-democratic electoral laws and appeals to her followers on social media to join the SEP as electoral members.
A full-length video interview with Pejic will be posted later in the week.
